What Is An Earthquake

Have you ever wondered how the surface of the Earth works? It's like a jigsaw puzzle, consisting of about 20 pieces called "Tectonic Plates." These plates constantly move, but don't worry, you don't feel it because they move very slowly. When these plates collide or slide past each other, an earthquake occurs. This happens along a surface called the Fault or the Fault plane. But don't be alarmed, earthquakes happen all the time.

Let's explore some fascinating facts about earthquakes:

  • Earthquakes are caused by the movement of tectonic plates.
  • The surface where the plates slip is called the Fault or the Fault plane.

Earthquakes occur constantly but most of the time they are not strong enough to be felt by humans.
